telemark night Wednesday 1/13

Hello everyone,

I'll lead a trip to telemark ski night at Blackhawk this Wednesday. For those of you that don't know about telemark night, it is quite possibly the best weekly trip that we do in the Outing Club. It is a great place to learn to teleski, practice, and hang out with other tele skiers. And there's a warming house with a fire to hang out in afterward.

Here's the details - meet at the ski cage at 5:45 to collect gear. The ski cage is in Memorial Union downstairs in the sailing repair shop. I'll prop open the Memorial Union side door on Park when I get there - go in and down the stairs and it'll take you right to the ski cage.

Bring $45 (or $30 and your student ID) for a season pass and $1 for gas. You can borrow work gloves for the tow rope from the club or bring your own. We usually hang out in the lodge for a little while at the end so you might want to bring food or beverages for yourself (and others if you like to share, most people bring a snack to pass).

This is a beginner-friendly trip. The club has all the telemark gear you will need and experienced skiers are willing to teach beginners the basics.

No sign-up, just show up. Park at Park Street Circle (where Park Street dead-ends into Lake Mendota) with your flashers on if you drive. Once we've collected gear we'll drive out to Blackhawk Ski Club (http://www.blackhawkskiarea.org/) in Middleton and ski until 9 pm. Let me know if you have any questions.

Doug
