Membership info!

So you've seen the trip announcements and realized what a rockin' organization this is. Now you want to join the ranks and find out what it really means to be a Hoofer.

But how can you join? How much do memberships cost? Who can be a member? Read on....

Hoofer Outing Club memberships are open to Wisconsin Union members, meaning students, faculty/staff, and members of the Madison community who belong to the Union.

  • Union Memberships: To purchase a Union membership (students and some fac/staff are already Union members, so they need not purchase a Union membership), you can buy a $30 6-month or a $50 12-month membership, which contributes to a $250 lifetime Union membership if you decide you want that later. A Union membership allows access to all Union services and Minicourses.

  • Hoofer Outing Club memberships (which are separate from Hoofer Riding, Ski and Snowboard, Mountaineering, Scuba, and Sailing Club memberships), are offered for a semester, an academic year, a summer, or an annual year:
  • If you are a student or a non-faculty/staff Union member, spring semester or a fall semester membership is $22. An academic year or summer is $33, and a 12-month membership is $55.
  • If you are UW faculty/staff, spring semester or fall semester is $25. An academic year or summer costs $39, and a 12-month membership is $67.

  • Where to buy: You can buy a Union membership and an Outing Club membership at weekly Outing Club meetings on Tuesday nights at 7pm in the Bradley Hoofer Lounge of the Memorial Union. The membership chair will be happy to help you set you up! The Outdoor Programs Office also sells memberships from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday in the basement of the Memorial Union.

If you have any questions, please contact Outing Club President Mary Collins at outingpresident@gmail.com or stop by the Outdoor Programs Office in the Memorial Union. The OPO's phone number is (608) 262-1630.

Happy Hoofing!!!
