Kickapoo River paddling trip this weekend

From: Connie Lane connieenal@yahoo.com

---------------------------

The weekend weather should be better (warmer and drier) than the weather we've been having, and the fall colors in southern Wisconsin should be optimal.

I am thinking of leading a small paddling trip on the upper Kickapoo River, using either canoes or sea kayaks. To paddle a canoe, you must have taken a lake lesson. To paddle a sea kayak, paddlers must have an SK1 rating. Sea kayakers must wear wetsuits (the club has some) and waterproof jackets, canoeists must wear a water resistant jacket.

This could either be a day trip (Saturday or Sunday), or preferably an overnight trip, camping along the river midway Saturday night. Campsites on the river are small, so an overnight trip would be limited to six.

Cost for an overnight trip (including transportation, food and permits) would be about $40. We would leave Saturday morning and return late Sunday afternoon. A day trip would be less, around $25. I will collect money at the PSC when we leave and refund leftover money after the trip.

If you are interested in paddling the Kickapoo, please e-mail me by Friday, 16 October at 3 pm. Tell me whether you want a day trip (and which day you prefer) or an overnight trip, and whether you want to paddle a sea kayak or a canoe.

Connie
